This image is one of a series of abstracted city scenes. Most of the series are more monochromatic than this. I guess I was in a more mulit-colored mood when I did this one. I actually see this series as geometric abstracts . . that happen to have windows, roofs, and doors! It is the colors and the textures that are my passion. Due to the original dimensional mixed media material that I use, the edges are always ragged and irregular. I have tried to capture that feel on these giclee prints by setting the image against a black background.
I have been a producing artist for over 30 years, starting out as a potter/sculptor back in my native Michigan. I now paint, work with mixed media, and a bit of photography. . .and now and then, a little clay! I have become known primarily for my work in a dimensional, recycled mixed media w/acrylic, and all of my originals are also available as prints and as cards. Joining Fine Arts America has led me to pull out some of my old images, and to find a renewed interest and pleasure in the techniques and styles that I have passed through over the past few years.
