This image was created by adhering medical gauze to a incised piece of pressed wood, and applying multiple coats of acrylic and then sealing it with a polyurethane product. If you have been following my work, you know that I love color and texture above all else, and this piece has both in plenty.
I have been a producing artist for over 30 years, starting out as a potter/sculptor back in my native Michigan. I now paint, work with mixed media, and a bit of photography. . .and now and then, a little clay! I have become known primarily for my work in a dimensional, recycled mixed media w/acrylic, and all of my originals are also available as prints and as cards. Joining Fine Arts America has led me to pull out some of my old images, and to find a renewed interest and pleasure in the techniques and styles that I have passed through over the past few years. Everyone has there take on this one. May I share, I'll be kind. The work was not intentionaly to have images in it, instead a design with texture, true? But yet, do you see the bottom half underneath the second horizontal line, two eyes staring in a daze? Check out the work I did earlier this year titled: "The pupil reminds us of..."
