This is the second of a series of folk art style Noah's Ark paintings. I do a number of private school fund raising shows each year, and this has been a dependable seller , particularly for a child's rooms. This version of the ark has a rainbow of sorts, a teal spiraling background, and a choppy green sea. In the ark are two giraffes, and a lion, zebra, and an elephant (all of whom of course have a partner not presently on deck!)
I have been a producing artist for over 30 years, starting out as a potter/sculptor back in my native Michigan. I now paint, work with mixed media, and a bit of photography. . .and now and then, a little clay! I have become known primarily for my work in a dimensional, recycled mixed media w/acrylic, and all of my originals are also available as prints and as cards. Joining Fine Arts America has led me to pull out some of my old images, and to find a renewed interest and pleasure in the techniques and styles that I have passed through over the past few years. I am the co-owner of Riverview Gallery in Portsmouth, Va. and my work is carried in galleries and museum shops throughout Virginia. I have fun with my work, somewhat of a...

Dear Wayne, Fremont Opera loves this!! Would we be able to purchase rights to use this image for advertising our performance of Benjamin Britten's "Noye's Fludde"? We are hoping to have an audience of families with their children, in a church in Fremont. It would involve Facebook postings, postcards, flyers and a program cover.
Wayne Potrafka replied:
Carole: I am honored that your organization has an interest in using this image for your upcoming production. With my own background in theater ( NOT opera!) and extensive work with children's theater, etc., it is of even more interest. However , I am a total novice in the concept of selling rights to use the image in such a situation. I am confidant that we can do so, and I will look to you to inform me as to what you consider to be a fair compensations for such usage. I know that Fine Art America has established some program dealing with this type of situation, but as of this time I have not entered into any agreement with them in this regard. I will check into that as well. I currently have two galleries in the Hampton Roads, Va. area, and am current president of the Chesapeake Bay Art Association, pretty much a full time, unpaid, position! I definitely look forward to hearing more from you. What is your time frame of this production? Wayne
Wayne Potrafka replied:
Carole: FAA was doing some strange things last week, and I was unable to ascertain whether or not my reply to your inquiry regarding my Noah's Ark piece was in fact delivered to you. It is now appearing as a response, but I wanted to follow up and verify that I am very interested in your proposition. In that I was unsure that the message was going through, I also found you on FB and sent a friend request and a message, but fB indicated that the message would go into an "other folder", whatever that is, and in that you were not on my friend list you might well not see my message! As valuable as the social network is for my galleries and personal business, there are days that I miss picking up the phone and calling! Anyway, wanted to reaffirm my interest, and to attempt to be sure that the messages that I sent to you were being delivered by one avenue or another. thanks. Wayne
